Bodystat QuadScan 4000 vs Tanita MC-780MA
Bodystat QuadScan 4000 and Tanita MC-780MA: compare documented specifications, features and limitations. Check the reports and explanation offered by the provider. More features alone do not establish better accuracy.
Bodystat QuadScan 4000: when to consider it
QuadScan 4000 measures impedance at four frequencies using adhesive electrodes. Alongside estimated fat and fat-free mass, it reports body-water compartments, resistance, reactance and phase angle. Testing is supine; the operator enters height and weight.
Tanita MC-780MA: when to consider it
MC-780MA is a multi-frequency segmental BIA analyser. The manufacturer catalogue lists fat, muscle and body-water estimates with regional results and SD-card storage. MA alone still does not distinguish the column-mounted P and separate S configurations.
Specifications side by side
Highlighted rows differ. Unknown values stay unknown.
| Specifications | Bodystat QuadScan 4000 | Tanita MC-780MA |
|---|---|---|
| Method | Multi-frequency BIA | Multi-frequency BIA |
| Measurement frequencies | 5, 50, 100, 200 kHz | Not verified |
| Measurement position | Supine | Not verified |
| Electrodes | 4 adhesive electrodes | Not verified |
| Documented outputs | Estimated fat, fat-free mass, total, intracellular and extracellular water; 50 kHz phase angle | Fat, muscle and fat-free mass, body water |
| Measured regions | Not verified | Both arms, both legs and trunk |
| Recording time | Not verified | Under 20 s; excluding preparation and consultation |
Fat-free mass is not pure muscle mass. A single result is not a diagnosis. Different devices and similarly named metrics may use definitions that are not interchangeable.
