OMRON BF300

BF300 is a handheld body-fat monitor using arm-to-arm BIA. A primary study describes a single 50 kHz frequency, four electrodes and standing measurement with arms extended. Its principal output is estimated body-fat percentage; it is distinct from the BF511 scale.

What the results tell you

BF300 primarily estimates body-fat percentage. It is a handheld monitor held in both hands in front of the body, rather than a scale, so entered weight requires a separate weighing and correct value. A primary comparison study describes arm-to-arm measurement at 50 kHz. This does not establish separate leg or trunk results, water compartments or a reported phase angle.

How the test works

You hold the monitor in both hands while standing with arms extended in front. It records arm-to-arm impedance and uses personal inputs to estimate whole-body fat percentage. Weight comes from separate weighing. Correct posture and hand contact are part of the procedure; this current path does not generate separate limb maps.

When the test is useful

Handheld BF300 can support a simple overall fat trend with correct posture and inputs. It complements separate weighing without adding regional analysis. Moving to foot-contact scales or segmental systems creates a different measurement series. Use in a comparison study does not guarantee the same error for every visitor.

Preparing for your visit

Obtain preparation instructions for the exact model and keep the time of day similar. Meals, exercise and hydration can affect results, making a post-workout reading poorly comparable with a rested visit. Maintain your usual hydration and record changed circumstances. Discuss electronic implants and other restrictions with the location using the device manual before testing.

Reading results and understanding limitations

BIA is an indirect estimate dependent on the model and conditions. A small change can reflect water or routine variability rather than fat loss. Results from different instruments are not a single interchangeable series. More frequencies or outputs alone do not establish greater accuracy. A report is not a standalone diagnosis, and estimated muscle quantity does not measure strength.

Choosing a testing location

BF300 can support a basic fat trend but does not replace a regional analyser. Confirm separate weighing and recording of conditions for follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate scale with the handheld BF300?

BF300 can support a basic fat trend but does not replace a regional analyser. Confirm separate weighing and recording of conditions for follow-up.

Can I compare results from another device?

They are not automatically one trend. Models can use different equations and procedures; establish a new baseline when changing instruments.
